Over the years, a number of organizations have laid down national standards and codes for the performance of emergency response apparel. These uniform safeguards are often mandatory in order to receive certain grants and funding on a federal, state or local level, and they are highly recommended in all other scenarios. Here, you can learn all about various public safety uniform certifications and find quality apparel that meets these standards. Blauer wants all law enforcement officers, firefighters, medical responders and tactical professionals to be safe and protected even when it’s not “required.” All apparel on these pages meets or exceeds the national standard for approved public safety use.

Those unfamiliar with public safety uniform codes can be confused by first glance. What’s the difference between ANSI Class 3 and Class 2? Why are there two different standards for CBRNE ensembles? Blauer will explain each uniform standard and why it may matter for your department or agency. Any official who works on or near a roadway will want our ANSI 107 Type P hi-vis apparel. Other codes are geared towards specific industries, such as NFPA 1975 fire-resistant clothing for fire stations. There are actually multiple standards for blood-borne pathogen resistance, and we’ll go over the differences and how this might affect you.

Once you’ve acquired an understanding of the various standards and whether they apply to your position, you can shop a variety of apparel that is fully compliant. We are proud to offer uniform shirts, pants, jackets, vests and other products that will protect you from poor visibility, flames, hazardous chemicals and bodily fluids. If your agency has received a Department of Homeland Security grant, we will help you find apparel and equipment that qualifies for these programs. Non-compliance can lead to increased risk and potential fines, but at Blauer, you can always find high-quality clothing from an industry leader that will conform to any relevant safety standard.
