What is Bonded Fleece?
Bonded fleece adds warmth for cold-weather duty without sacrificing the mobility or breathability of traditional layered uniforms. It works by combining a soft, insulating fleece interior with a durable outer shell, permanently fused through HEAT and PRESSURE to create a single, high-performance fabric. Blauer bonded fleece is different than most in that we use a dot adhesive pattern which allows moisture vapor (sweat) to pass through the layers without trapping moisture, for example- when driving in a partially heated car or after a few minutes indoors. Competitors often bond fleece with a continuous film which traps moisture, condenses, and causes conductive heat loss when exposed to cold and wind making the skin feel sticky and sweaty. Wet skin feels 40 times colder than dry skin, so breathability is key when considering insulating layers.
