Want the same protection from you first responder outwear that has been trusted by the U.S. Military for nearly 50 years? Then you need Gore-Tex® public safety gear from Blauer. First invented in 1969 by W. L. Gore and Associates, Gore-Tex has long been the standard for fabric that’s waterproof, windproof and breathable. Blauer offers the largest selection of Gore-Tex outerwear for first responders that shields professionals from the harshest elements.
What is Gore-Tex?
Most outerwear fabric that uses a polyurethane inner layer that is waterproof, but not breathable. Gore-Tex fabrics replace this membrane with thermo-mechanically expanded polytetrafluoroethylene – more widely known as Teflon – which keeps out water and wind. Since Gore-Tex is microporous, perspiration vapors can escape even as liquids run into a brick wall. This means the fabric remains dry, which reduces heat loss in cold weather so you’ll be warmer on duty.
The selectively permeable membrane is bonded to an outer laminate fabric, and sometimes receives an inner lining as well. Two-layer Gore-Tex apparel is more comfortable and can be used with insulation, while three-layer Gore-Tex fabric has lest shifting, which improves durability. Every seam of the finished garment is then sealed with Gore-Seam® tape to eliminate leaks and make them fully waterproof. The result is public safety outerwear that keeps you warmer and drier in any condition you can imagine.
